Step 1

• Open the Firefox browser.
• Go to the Menu and click on Options. (For the Mac users – Choose Preferences)

Step 2

• Now, select the Privacy & Security tab.
• From here you will have to scroll down to the ‘Certificates’ section you will find three options –

• Select one automatically
• Ask you every time
• Query OCSP responder servers to confirm the current validity of certificates

You can select ‘Ask you every time’ and then click on the option called as ‘View Certificates’

Step 3

• Now, a window will appear where you need to click on option ‘Your Certificates’, which you can find in the extreme left upper corner.
• From here, you need to select your ‘Certificate Name’

• Further, you need to click on the option ‘Backup All’ from the tab
• Click on ‘Ok’

Step 5

• Give a Name to your Certificate and Save the file in PKCS12 (.p12 or .pfx) file format.
• Click on Save

Step 6

• A window will pop up where you can choose a Certificate Backup Password.
• Enter the Certificate backup password and then, reenter the Certificate backup password.

(Note – if you forget the backup password, which you assigned on your certificate, it will not be possible to restore the backup in any such case. Thus, ensure to store the password in your diary or some secure place)

Step 7

• Click on Ok and you have successfully exported and backed up the code signing certificate.
